International Student Requirements

Mason understands there are several “types” of international students, each with unique circumstances that can affect the admissions process. All of us at Mason greatly value our global campus population and it is our aim to make the process straightforward for all students.

Please read the sections below and determine which student type best represents your individual situation. You can apply to Mason in one of three categories: freshman, transfer, or graduate student. Each of the student types at the bottom of this page will lead you through the application process.

The “types” of international students listed below apply to:

  • Freshmen
Completed secondary school and have not enrolled in a regular session at any college or university.
  • Transfer
Completed some coursework at the collegiate level (post-secondary).
  • Graduate Student
Completed a 4-year US bachelors degree or the equivalent.

Graduate applicants who have completed any university study outside of the United States must follow the International Transcript Submission Guidelines (PDF).
